iTunes All Your Life
Advanced iTunes tips, so your music will still be good in 20 years:
- keep separate iTunes libraries for large collections
- don't use the compilations flag — just put compilations in Album Artist
- put all single songs in an album called "Singles"
- use BPM to make star ratings permanent (so you can back them up)
- embed artwork in your MP3s so it stays with them. Paste artwork into the cmd-i window to make it part of the MP3
- get the highest possible quality songs
- add the artist to the album name — when you have thousands of albums, it helps
Do things in the right order: eliminate songs you don't like before fixing all the titles, for example. When we added all our unsorted singles at once, we ranked them first, then fixed the spelling on the best songs, not all the songs.
